Ok so I have been having some problems with my PC as of late whilst gaming. I had been getting some graphic malfunctions whilst playing WoW. So I replaced my 8800 GTX with a 260 GTX and the problem went away for 1 day although I didnt play much that day anyway. But today after a couple of hours on WoW my screen looked like this:

The graphics return to normal after I alt-tab but it then remains to take forever to alt tab back in (Like 20-30 seconds) The same slow effect of alt-tabbing remains for the rest of the day on all games unless I restart my PC.

Do you think my PSU is going? Its a 620w Corsair PSU!

temps are fine - GFX like 55c & CPU - 45-50 (In Game)

I have tried old drivers and the latest nvidia drivers with both cards.

The same symptoms are occuring yes. It's as if the card isn't getting enough power but I know the PSU is more than capable enough.

Ok, check first your RAM using memtest86.. Just to eliminate that.

Then check your PSU.

How to check your PSU is working

If the above is fine, the fact you are on a second card could either point to bad driver installation or a faulty motherboard.

Make sure you have installed the drivers correctly, used driver sweeper to clean off any remains, then install the latest drivers.

Have you check other games? Might be worth checking them too.

Have you tried re-installing the game? Is it the only game affected by this error? I would also be tempted to blame the RAM but it's tricky to tie down the actual cause.

Ok.. first of all when I recieved this new GFX card I formatted my PC to wipe out the theory of bad drivers etc. I have ran memtest numerous times since having my RAM and never had any errors.

I do play other games like CS1.6 & CSS but these games are far from graphically intense since HL2 Steam games use the CPU more than anything and the problem doesn't exist on them. I have reinstalled WoW with the format.

One thing I did forget to mention on my original post is that when my PC had a problem with the 8800 GTX the screen would turn black OR the screen would lock up and freeze and in both cases would need a restart. Both of these happened on WoW.

My conclusion is that it is either the PSU or Mobo.

Going by that it could also be wow causing this.

Perhaps yes.. but to be fair this is the only thing I play so can't really test it on other demanding games for the problem to occur

Can you lower a few settings in wow just to test if you can recreate this problem by then upping the graphical settings one at a time?

I play wow with pretty much everything on low except view distance - I am more competitve than enjoying the bad graphics on wow.

You can only conclude by going through the process of elimination. There's no short cut.

As I said in my previous post, eliminate the PSU, then memory and go from there.
