I wasn't sure where to put this thread so there are two, one in General Hardware and one in here. Hopefully we can resolve it quicker this way.
I've just taken my PC apart for a clean and a rearrange of the cables, it needs a good tidy in there, anyway, upon reassembling I have an odd problem, the PSU, CPU and GPU fans all spin up to full speed. Because my PSU only has one 6 pin power connector and my graphics card requires two I'm using an adapter, so I've got the standard PSU's 6 pin connector going straight from the PSU to the graphics card, and then I have the adapter, 6 pin in one end of the graphics card and two molexes coming off that which should plug into the molexes which are left free on the PSU.
I've had this working for months and only now I'm having a problem, I'm pretty sure it's something that I'm doing and I'm also fairly sure that it's something to do with the graphics card. If I remove the graphics card from the setup then things work just fine so I assume I'm plugging it in wrong. Pics are below and help is greatly appreciated. If any more info is required just ask as I'll be monitoring the thread closely. The GPU is a 5850 and it's a Zotac 9300 mini itx board.
As you can see in the second image I have the 6 pin power connector plugged into one of the slots on the graphics card, and I have only one of the molexes plugged in, if I plug both in the system doesn't power up, if I plug the yellow cabled molex into the one with the sleeving then the system doesn't power up. It seems the only way it powers is if I plug the black wired molex into the sleeved molex. One this that I'm a little bit wary of is that when I took the system apart I think one of the pins came out of the ends of one of the molex connectors and without looking which one I just pushed it back in, I'm not sure which one it was and if anyone needs images of the ends of all of my molexes I can do that.
HALP!!
