Purchased 2 of these on Tuesday. One drive worked perfectly the other drive wouldn't be recognised. I rma'd the faulty drive back and bought a 3rd 7200.10 from OC'UK on Wednesday. The 3rd drive has been detected, but there seems to be a loud random popping and clicking noise coming from this drive, these sounds do not sound like the normal seeking noises that you would associate with a hard drive.
I managed to raid the 2 drives together and also managed to do a full format/windows installation and windows works perfectly, but I am really concerned about the popping of this new drive.
What would you guys recommend I do. The drive works fine, it is just extremely loud compared to the working drive. I would also like to state that the drives are identical and even run the same firmware.
The Drive I RMA'd has now been deemed to be faulty and I have been refunded the money for it. I am just worried that if I RMA it I will need to pay for the testing of a "WORKING" drive as the 3rd drive is not "FAULTY" and just loud.
Cheers
