I used to weight about 9stone 7, I am now about 9/ 12

It has been hard work though, been doing the weights for a bit now and I'm certainly lifting a lot more than when I started out.

I'm sure I need more protein but don't want to get kidney stones :) Does drinking a lot of water before and after protein intake minimise the chances of this?

Sorry for all the questions, just trying to work it right.

Who told you that you would get kidney stones?

How many overmuscled wrestlers/strongmen/bodybuilders/rugby players, etc. do you know of that have suffered from them?

If you aren't gaining weight you need to eat more.

How many calories are you eating?

For clean gains you should be looking to eat 200-500 calories more than maintenace with a high intake of protein.

EAT MORE!!!

And not just more protein... Eat more of everything. Plenty of pasta/rice. Nothing else needs to be said.

There is a risk of kidney stones if you eat hudge amounts of protein, (3g per lb of body weight) but seeing as you weigh 10 stone, by my calculations you would have to be eating atleast 420g of protein a day for this to be a significant risk.

So thats nothing to worry about.

If your sessions are ok, and you are seeing gains in strength but not mass, then the answer is simple, you need to eat more.

How much protein are you getting? someone who weighs 10 stone and is looking to bulk should be aiming for 210g + daily. Dont let protein over shadow the rest of your diet though, get as much as you can but also keep it balanced.

Calories are just as important you should be taking in 500 - 800 more calories per day than you are using.

Once your doing all of this, the key is to be patient and keep working hard. You'll get there in the end.
