Just a post for a mate:

Recently I have upgraded my computer to Windows Vista Home Premium from my original Windows XP Pro SP2. I used an upgrade version of Windows Vista Home Premium and this appeared to work perfectly. I was not sure whether the drivers would still be present on my system after this so I reinstalled them anyway. I was unable to use my driver disk that came with my motherboard as it was not compatible with Windows Vista.

I managed to download the drivers for all the hardware correctly or at least I believe I have. There were some Intel drivers on the disk which I had to run but as the disk was not compatible I couldn’t. To solve this I downloaded from the Intel site the same drivers but with compatibility for Vista. These though would not install as it stated that there was no Intel Pro connections.

My main problem is that I cannot connect to the internet through my Ethernet which I was able to do fine with XP Pro. It shows the driver as fully installed and finds my router but has local only access. Therefore I cannot connect to the internet and have run out of solutions.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Do you have any firewalls? Obviously it sees your router, so the card works. Run the network setup wizard, i find this cures many ills.
