Problems connecting to Xbox Live through a Laptop using wireless military internet.

I have Norton 360 installed on my laptop and I think it's blocking Xbox Live from connecting. Unfortunately I'm on a military base and connect to their wireless so have no control over a router, though I know it can be done as plenty of my crew have their xbox working. They can't seem to figure out what's wrong though. The strange thing I find is that media centre works so it is purely an internet thing hence my Norton suspicions.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Didn't know it was so bad, probably why it was free with the laptop. What would you reccomend over Norton?

Swap norton for Avast, avast is free and so much better.

Norton has been removed, though there was a bit of a "what are you doing dave?" moment as it crashed the computer on the first attempt. Guess it is evil.

Got rid of Norton and installed Microsoft Essentials instead. Still can't get this thing going, i'm betting there's some share box or have to open a port (google hinted that) but my attempts are proving fruitless.
