Hey guys,

I'm currently on the 10MB Virgin connection and for the past 2 years I've had so many problems, ranging from them charging for a higher package when actually not getting that package, to connection problems. For a year I've been playing around with a 100-200ms ping on WoW for example. I've tried ringing Virgin to get this situation sorted but the 'call centers' fustrate me so much that I have to put the phone down otherwise I'll end up saying something I regret.

I'm looking to switching ISP and I'm looking into which provider I should go for. I game a lot on my connection and I'm looking for a secure connection that isn't going to get throttled at 'peak times'. I've looked into getting Be, but it's currently not available in my area.

I would like some of your opinions on providers and who I should avoid or one I should look to get installed into my home. What in your experience is a good ISP?

Also, if you could shed light on how there call centers are/or where they are located, I would greatly appreciate it.

I look forward to your opinions :)

EDIT: I've just used Samknows and it's saying that the ISP's available are;

BT Wholesale ADSL
BT Wholesale ADSL Max
TalkTalk (CPW) LLU
Sky Broadband / Easynet LLU
Virgin Media (Cable)

Are these any better than the Virgin Media cable broadband?

Given the choice if you want to leave Virgin, I'd go with one of the LLU providers, sky was good when I was able to get the LLU service from them, consitant speeds all day and night and no limits, but I moved area and am stuck with BT wholesale and it is appaling, whatever you do don't go BT

Having the virgin thing too atm mate, been with them 10 years and now the connection has gone down the pan from being flawless all that time.

Currently coping with 100-4000 ping, 2-10% packet loss during peak times, it's a joke and pretty much makes browsing / streaming / gaming impossible.
