In Firefox: User tries to download latest Adobe Reader. Gets as far as the download link, clicks it, then nothing happens.
User had just ran some updates on Firefox so he uninstalls it.
User then goes back to Safari to re download Firefox. He has the same problem though with downloading.
He calls me, I connect in and have a look.
In Safari I try various sites - getfirefox.com, various things off download.microsoft.com, all sorts. All that does happen is the address bar "flickers" changing URL quickly I think, then goes back to the previous URL. That's it.
I am now a bit stuck. I can "get a round" on a Mac but no idea where to start with these kind of problems to be honest on OS X (10.4 in this case). Some one did suggest deleting the preference file from ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.Safari.plist but I can not see any effect of this (ie. the home page doesn't even get reset which I suspect it should?). Also not sure how this would cause the same issue in Firefox?
Any ideas guys? Greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Shell
