Problems formatting Samsung HDD

I recently bought a HDD second hand and it came formatted. However when i deleted the partition and try to format it again in windows its stops at 6% and will not proceed any further.

What else can i try or is it time to make contact with the seller?

Try doing it from a DOS based utility and see what happens.

If it still doesn't work try it in another PC if possible.

If again it doesn't work, get onto the seller.

Not being cynical, but there might've been a reason it was partitioned and formatted before sale if you get my drift.

This guy could be right, if you can't get your money back and really need the drive then try partitioning the bad secter out, if its

Thanks ill try to samsung dos utility. When i received it there was just one partition on it. Its possible any damage could have happened in the post.
