Problems getting rig to work

No Windows is a 32-bit OS. You can run older 16 bit applications using COMMAND.EXE but it's not going to help you here.

I'll have a dig around tonight as why this might be occuring.. but it is strange..

Not a silly question :) A few people have asked me that.

When i do use the D-SUB connection the colours look pritty bad, very dull.
I also worry that i the card may not be performing as good as it should, i need to do some bench marking at stock.

Do you know of and game demos or the like that would really put it under a lot of stress?

I dont think ill RMA it any time soon. The new setup (E6300/DS3/7900GS/2 x 512 meg XMS)) is such a massive increase in speed from my P4 2.533/6600GT/intel pesv motherboard.

IFAIK, the monitor will not slow the performance of the card. My 7800GTX has two DVIs and no D-SUB.. My monitor has a D-SUB connection so i have to use a converter. There is no preformance loss nor any loss of quality.

Make sure you have the correct driver installed for the monitor and you are not using a Standard PnP monitor.

I think your limiting factor here is the monitor .. looking at the spec yesterday, it's not that impressive.. You can get some decent TFT widescreen monitors for a snip.

See if you can get your hands on a different monitor (CRT or TFT) and see if ther is any difference. If it improved, then you know the score.

Im also finding the graphics on BF2 very jumpy. This is on the same settings as my 6600GT which didnt have this problem. Looks like ill be RMAing. :(

Problem seems to be solved.
Tried my setup on a samsung TFT and it was fine. Guess the monitor cant handle the 7900GS... odd concedering it could handle the 6600GT through the same DVI connection.

Thanks for all your help! Time to start looking for a decent TFT LCD under £200, any suguestions?
