Finished my build this morning and got everything installed but when it came to installing the GPU drivers I noticed the computer was still using the on board graphics.

Looking at the instructions it said I could use one or two 6 pins for power and I originally used one. The fan was spinning up at full rpm but still the computer wasn't recognising it.

I then tried two 6 pins. This time when firing it up the fan was spinning much slower and I was left with a blank screen.

Not entirely sure what I've done wrong.

You have to have both 6 pins for the 5870 to function correctly.

If you are using one of the 4pin to 6pin adaptors you need to plug in 2 x 4 pin molex to make it work.

You need to have the 2 6 pin pce e connectors installed onto the card like HeX said. Make sure you use 10.5's cat drivers as they are better than 10.6 as a lot of people have had problems with the 10.6's.

Spot on, now working a treat. I was using 2x molex to 6 pin but from the cable, now using 1x 6pin pci and 1x molex to 6 pin.

Make sure you've connected the monitor cable to the card. I have a feeling this is the problem...

I think I would have cried if that turned out to be the problem.
