Problems installing H50, Help?

My H50 arrived at 8:30 this morning and ive started to install it. Got the old cooler removed and everything cleaned. Went to start organising which way i was going to mount the H50 whn i realised i only have room for 1 fan :eek:

. Cpu mount on my MB (msi p43 neo-f) is to far towards the back of the case (cm storm scout). :mad:

So it will be pretty hard to remove the stock fan from the back as its zip tied in everywhere, and id ideally like to keep it because of the switched red lights, but will it be powerfull enough? Or should i just lose the bling and use the corsair fan?

Any other suggestions will be very welcome too.

Generally LED fans are a bit crap at actual performance, can you not mod the case a bit so you can mount the rad on the outside?

Well, if it was me (and if I have read your post correctly), I would lose the bling and get the cooler fitted properly (i.e. as Corsair say) so you can properly assess the performance you are getting out of it. One of the things about the H50 is that everyone seems to get different performance levels depending on their particular system and how they choose to fit it. You need to allow every chance of getting the best temps you can.

Once everything has settled down and you have properly familiarised yourself with it and how best it works in your system then I would start to add the bling if you so wish/where possible.

Performance/functionality > bling/looking good

I remember I saw a video of someone installing a fan on the outside of the case with the rad and another fan on the inside. Might be worth considering in this case.

Come up with a solution, gonna remove the top 140 and replace it with the 120 red led, use the corsair fan+rad on back extraction then do a ghetto mount of the 140 as intake in the drive bays.

This sound reasonable or is there some serious flaw i am missing?

Red lights? Brothel comes to mind before bling, if you ask me, but each to his own

Install the H50 properly - you know it is the right thing to do! You can add lighting in other ways than an illuminated fan if you so desire.

Right i got that problem sorted, 1 last thing though.

Since i can't get push-pull anymore should i have the fan pushing or pulling air through the rad (exausting from case).

Corsair recommend that you have the fan sucking air in but plenty of people have chosen entirely different methods depending on what's best for them.

I would try it as Corsair recommend first so you can get a performance baring and then play around with things to see what temps are like with different configurations.

Running my e7500 @stock under prime maxing at 50/45, average of 47/43. Not as drastic as i anticipated, but still a good 10-15 degree drop from intel stock cooler. Cant find idle temps though as my sensors are stuck at 42/41...

doing as corsair state will give best cpu temps, but worse case temps, having the fan extract will be overall best temps, and maybe 1/2c on cpu.
