Hi folks,

I have an ASUS V2-M2V890 Barebones system that I have taken the MB out of and put into my new scout case.

The system has been running fine for the last few weeks, albeit very slowly on the integrated graphics.

I have uninstalled the old drivers, and the BIOS is set to boot up with the PCI-E option if possible.

On installing the new card, I don't even get the monitor to switch on. My power supply is 500W modular so that's not a problem (with the six pin GC power connected!)

What could I be doing wrong? As I say, the rest of the setup has not changed, and it can't be a Windows Vista issue, as it's not even switched the monitor on yet.

Oh, and the monitor is a 23" LG 2ms monitor and I'm using DVI to connect. Previously connected via D-Sub with the integrated graphics.

Any help gratefully received!

Thanks

AJD

There aren't any menu settings on the monitor, it just auto selects the source (and I have tried pressing the source button.) The monitor just says DVI Power Saving Mode and goes blank.

As far as the BIOS goes, I have looked in all of the menus, and there is nothing really definitive as far as switching off the on board graphics!

Still stumped as to what I can do next!

Ok if it auto selects thats fine, I had a monitor previously you had to select the source.
Should be something in the bios to switch off onboard graphics or to select Peg or Pci-e instead.
Is the card in the right slot?
Did you disconnect the vga cable?
If not any of the above disconnect the dvi and reconnect, you never know.
Do you have two dvi on the card if so try the other one and maybe try another dvi cable if you have one.

Well, I managed to get the system to boot with the new card in! However, on installing CCC, I waited about 15 minutes with a blank screen and loads of HDD activity before I decided to reboot! 1st Mistake!

Ended up going back to onboard graphics to get the machine to reboot!

Now it seems I have the ATI drivers installed, CCC has been removed but I'm back to not being able to boot with the ATI in it's slot!

I also happen to have a line splitting my screen with two different tones... no idea why!

Will try to shut down fully and install the card again!

Removed drivers, re-installed card. Booted up first time with new DVI connection, then when the PC is re-started it reverts to the I don't want to play mode!

I am thinking it might be a motherboard issue! Annoyingly I don't have the funds available to do a full upgrade (intention was to go for an i3 rig!)

So with DDR2 memory and an AM2 processor, will I be throwing good money at a new MB, only to have to upgrade again later?

Cheers
