Hi

Ok trying to install this card onto windows XP SP2 and whenever I start installation it gets to about 70% then it freezes and I have to reboot. If I let windows try and install I get an error message saying the hardware doesnt meet Windows Logo Testing ? Any ideas ? Thanks

Hi Thanks for reply

Not tried another slot yet (only have one more option as His IceQ X1900 cooler fan takes out one slot on my Asus A8V-E board... bios 1012 latest ver.). I have tried downloading different drivers for my card but the system stills hangs/freezes and in the end after so many failed attempts I had to do a safe boot and system restore to get computer working. Down side is this card is an OEM version and with that you seem to get little or NO support from Soundblaster.

I have emailed them the card details in hope if nothing else.

I have done and about 70% of the way through the installation the computer freezes and requires a reset/reboot. Uninstalled old Ac97 drivers and disabled onboard sound as well in bios before trying to install.

There seems to be a lot and i do mean LOT of compatibility problems with the x-fi sound cards . Ive spent the better part of tonight reading forums .. even Creatives own forum is full of issues. Tomorrow Im going to slip this into my E6600 Gigabyte rig and see how it goes .... if ! it goes

Aint got a round to trying the e6600 rig yet but had another go at this computer. This time tried the bottom PCI slot and also downloaded the drivers again from Creative website without any success , got to 70% again and computer locked/froze. Least this time I didnt have to system restore. :(

Ok back again .... FAILED ! Tried installing on a new computer ... the Gigabyte SD3 with the Intel Core Duo E6600 processor. this was with a clean install of windows Xp from only the other day. New hardware found but I cancelled windows installing it and instead used the drivers that i downloaded from the link stormy13 posted. Everything seem to be working fine until it got the part where it said it was updating windows drivers please wait ... well I waited and waited and waited ... mouse cursor wouldnt move no harddrive activity system had froze and I had to reboot. Upon rebooting new hardware logo came up in taskbar and once again system froze. Powered off and removed soundcard. Guess now I wait on email back from Creative and I see if I can RMA it. :(

Sorry some of this wont make sense (download link etc) as I cut and pasted from another forum Ive been asking for help on.

Hi Phil

Just to keep you all updated on this.... I had another go at installing on the Gigabyte SD3 board ... tried a different PCI slot (slot 1 doesnt share with anything else according to bios) whenever I got to desktop windows detected new hardware then shutdown and rebooted ! This kept happening until I powered off and removed card.
