Hello.

Just built a new pc with the following :

Gigabyte ex58-ud3r (rev 1.6)
i7 920 DO
TRUE with 2x120 xigmateks
Patriot Viper 6GB (3x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800 (1600MHz)
PC power+cooling 910w silencer
Samsung 64gb ssd
Wd Raptor 150
Haf 922
Gtx 260 -216
Sata dvd-rw.

Ive tried to install both Win7 and Vista on both drives (only 1 connected at a time) with no success.
It completes the "windows loading files" (black background) then it goes straight to the "starting windows" message, then to a blank desktop, with nothing on it. It doesnt seem to go to the setup screen where i choose installation drive etc.

Ive manually set memory volts and timings - i can only select 1600mhz if i choose the xmp profile. Without it I can only select mem freq of auto,6,8 - which only gives me 1066mhz.
I tried upping the qpi/vtt volts, with no success.

Im prob missing something silly, but cant think what, and its driving me mad.
Will try a different dvdrw in the morning, but i dont think its that causing the prob.

Any help is much appreciated.

How long have you waited before giving up? It often takes 5-10 minutes to start installing and it catches people out!

I waited about 30 mins.

Just putting a different dvdrw in (burned another copy of win7 on it before putting it in the i7 sys).
