Im trying to help a friend migrate from AOL. Weve uninstalled the aol software but no programs will acess the net. Including firefox/IE/Napster. Ive run a net setup wizard with no luck. I can ping www. google.com so its not a network issue. IE says its a firewall issue but windows firewall is disabled.

Cheers

remember some ISPS require DNS servers to be placed in the routers settings... when I migrated from AOL to UKonline, I had no page could be displayed yet I connected and was online fine, my router had received and sent some bytes back confirming all was good and luckerly my m8 told me not until u add the DNS servers into the router so it knows where to connect to get websites/access to net.

Till I done that all been working fine ever since :)

Right if you can ping Google i'm going to say it's not DNS related as you can resolve the IP for google however flush your dns cache to be sure. For the record opendns is great for anyone who wants dns from a 3rd party that is reliable and reasonably fast.
