I've currently got a couple of Devolo 200MB homeplugs and will shortly be needing another but the Devolo one's are pretty expensive to buy seperately so I'm considering getting a twin pack and splitting them with my dad - problem is the ones he has is a value pack (still 200MB though!) so are unbranded.

Has anyone got any experience of mixing homeplug brands - will it cause problems??

Cheers....

There are two powerline chipsets competing at the moment. The most popular one is the Intellon (Homeplug AV Specification) chipset. Some manufacturers however use the DS2 chipset (Netgear / Philips). These although both being 200mbps will not interoperate with each other. Do the "value" plugs give any indication on what chipset they use?

THERE's a question - they are the value brand of a competitor so I cant post the link - from what I can see there is no mention of the chipset!

I think I can guess what competitor.
I will take a look.

Would you class these homeplugs as extra value or not ;)?

If so then they are most probably made by Xenta and are Homeplug AV compliant so you should not have any problems mixing with the Devolos :)
