hi

i was just woundering if anyone else was having problems with there interent speed on a night time. it runs fine through the day (5.4MB) but after 5/6 oclock i struggle to even get 1MB

do you think this is a problem with UKonline or my line. it has jus occured after 12 months of solid connection

thanks jake

5-6 is peak times and thing can get bad around then as everyone get home from work. Some isp traffic shape at peak hours as well

it starts at that time. normally lasts till 12 at night. it used to be fine but has just started the past week

If it works fine for the rest of the day id think the line would be fine. It might be worth calling the ISP to see if they are doing any maintenance that may be affecting performance ?

will be giving them a ring later today to see what is happining. im considering changing providers anyways. i would agree with the traffic management but dont think they would limit you to 0.5MB. th most i could get was 1MB and that was at a push

Without more information it could be loads of things: congestion (at various points), traffic management and your modem/line/ADSL connection.

You should at least eliminate the last ones by digging out the ADSL stats your modem should give both when you're getting the speed you expect and when it's slow. Where are you getting 5.7Mbps (not MB, unless UKOnline have started doing something other than ADSL2+) and 1Mbps from?

i rang ukonline and and they have said its congestion. it is Mbps but was to lazy to put it all down thts y thers on MB ther. and i got them form speed testing websites. cheers for the help anyways
