Well i cant seem to get my CPU stable at 3.66 Ghz (333 x11). I currently have the BIOS volts set to 1.50625 i think, but it goes up to 1.55 when i start to run orthos . As you can see authos doesnt last long

Any idea what to do cause im a bit of a noob when it comes to overclocking. I have tried running it at (400 x9) at that voltage but i cant get the system to post :(.

Please Help

Something not right there, should do that with stock volts. I would use Prime95 as well for a quad to be honest.

Edit: Ignore the stock volts thought you had a QX9650, it might do it on stock volts, but certainly shouldn't need much more.

Ok i tried running it at 1.4v (333 x11) and it would boot into windows, however it did at 1.4125. I then tried prime95 and cores 1 and 4 both failed instanly and then 30secs later i got a BSOD. Should i change any other voltages as i am only changing the CPU one atm.

Is you RAM set up right?

I think so, i havent changed anything to do with the RAM and all the settings are on Auto.

I looked in the BIOS and these are the settings that it is running at.

5-5-5-18 @ 1.888 volts

ATC to ATC = 3
Rank Write To Read = 3
Write To Precharge = 6
Refresh to ATC = 42
Read To Precharge 3
TRD = 7
TRD Phase Adjustment = 1
Comand To #CS = 2

Also the memory multi is set to auto.

Do these look correct?

Well i have just tried my old 2x 1Gb Corsair XMS2 6400C4 (Running slack timmings of 5-5-5-18) and i still cant get it stable at 11x 333. The Voltage was at 1.41v, memory at 2.05v and +0.100 volts on the northbridge and still a blue screen. Please help as i would really like to get my cpu up to 4 Ghz.

It could just be the Max for your chip.... vid of 1.350v is very high for a QX series chip.

I think that is the max vid for that CPU. Intel test each CPU to see what voltage it is stable at and set a vid for that particular CPU, so for example, not the same CPU I know as I have a Q6600 but my vid is 1.2625 but there's a guy on OC with a Q6600 with a vid of 1.1625.

I suppose the theory is the lower the vid then you've more chance of getting to a high overclock without having to uber ramp up the voltages.

Sorry for waffling on but it's been a long day :)

Ah right i see. I did have it up to 1.50625 at one point. It ran but it just didnt run prime. Im sure the problem is with my northbridge voltage as i havent really been altering that?:confused:Im just confused :(

nice one:)

you could try pushing the RAM voltage to 2.0v as the rated voltage on your RAM is 2.2 I think.

But maybe in your case you have reached the max for your chip on air. I have always thought in order to get the best out of an Extreme chip you would need water or better cooing.

Well the thing is the temps are fine, never going above 70*C. I must be doing soething wrong but im not sure what :(

Well i seem to have it stable at 400 x9 @ 1.475v. Had to but the NB up +0.2 and the FSB +0.1 with the ram running at 2.0v. But i am now happy :D. Prime temps dont go above 64*C :). I may see if it will go to 400 x10 in the future but i am happy with it at 3.6Ghz at the moment :D:D
