Okay my friend (not very techy) is having major troubles overclocking his system and wondering if you guys have any tips before he has to send it back.

He chose the 4GHz option but can't seem to get any sort of overclock. He has already spoken to ocuk who advised he can send back the bundle or try re-install of windows 7 on his old hard drive.

Basically when attempting an overclock the system willl freeze during the windows loading screen forcing a reset.

I have myself an i7 @ 4GHz so I know most of the setting are similar but even a simple 150 BCLKx20 and it will crash on windows startup. We have tried up to 1.4 vcore and also even tried lowering multiplier to 16 with a BCLK of 166 unsuccessfully. Tried a couple of profiles ocuk sent through and also tried with relaxed dram settings.

Do you think a reinstall is worth it or should he send it back?

It is a brand new build using a Corsair HX750

when my i5 setup hung on windows startup it was a ram problem.

double check everything is seated properly, especially the cpu. drop the ram multi to 3, see if that helps.
