ok not sure how to explain this one but when i switched on my pc and start up a game after about 10mins of playing its start stuttering and freezing so i quit the game and then it seems to crash onto a red screen and stays like that until i restart, when it has been restarted i can play games fine no freezing no stuttering absolutely perfect frames rates and that.
i've run prime95,furmark and various other benchmarking/stability testing programs i cannot make it crash after it has been restarted i'm really lost on this one.
it only happens on a cold boot, i.e left off over night and switched on the next day, it doesn't crash when switched on a couple of hours after being switched off.
not sure what to do now.
my specs are:
i7 920 @3.4GHZ
6gb viper ram
asus rampage gene 2
5870
crucial ssd
velociraptor 300GB

Complete shot in the dark - it could be that your monitor hasn't warmed up enough? As you have said, you have tried testing and benchmarking and have found no problems with the usual hardware suspects - RAM, GPU, CPU. The fact that it only happens on a cold-boot, causes a red screen(!) and there doesn't appear to be a problem with the other hardware suggests that the monitor is not liking it. Like I say, a complete guess but I know that most LCD monitor manufacturers advise a warm-up time of 5-10 mins - whether this is just for optimum colour/brightness etc. I don't know, it could be that the heavy load on it during gaming causes it to frazzle somewhat?

One thing that would possibly disprove my theory is whether or not when your games crash you can still hear sounds etc? I would guess that if the sound crashed too then it would rule the monitor out? Again, I'm guessing here.

Tried mem-test to double check the memory is ok.
Remove the overclock, what psu are you using.

sounds goes and the sound skips and jumps when the game does.
i tryed memtest everything fine and the psu is a thermaltake toughpower 750w, i will take the overclock off tommorrow and will see what happens

i'm going mad with this problem but i'll keep trying to fix it. i uninstalled the drivers and reinstalled them yesterday and i will see if that works if it doesn't i am gonna stick an old gfx card in to find out if it is the card or not.
