Hi,
Yesterday I wiped my HD and tried a re-install of Windows Vista. Arguably windows has re-installed, however I am having problems installing updates and in particular the service packs.
There were 104 updates to install and the service packs were not feature in the list. I tried to install these updates, whilst reading about the service packs.
A few of the 104's were not able to install for some reason.
I downloaded the stand alone updates for SP1 and SP2, as I understand you need to install SP1 before installing SP2.
I tried to ensure I was downloaded the X64 versions, as that is the system I have. There does not appear to be seperate 32/64 versions for SP1, thus I downloaded this version: Windows6.0-KB936330-X64-wave0
After leaving it overnight, i came to the machine this morning, restarted and now it tells me there was a problem, but not what the problem was.
I did read prior to starting the SP update that it installs ALL prior updates, thus I was wondering if I should or should not have installed the other 104 (minus a few) updates?
If not, then why didn't the service packs appear as part of the 'windows update' list?
Can anyone offer any advice?
Should I start over again? windback to a restore point?
Regards
Lee
