Hi there, i recently took the dive and went from my dual core A64 to c2d, got hold of some ram which came very higly rated Patriot PDC22G6400LLK and a P35 DQ6 rev 1.0
when one sitck is in i can overclock very well and the system is nice and stable, orths will run for hours without erroring, however when i stick 2 sticks of ram and put orthos on blend it'll crash about 24 seconds into the test, even on a moderate overclock. i'm pumping an extra 0.3v(2.1v) through the ram and even upped it to 0.5v for two sticks yet it still breaks. admittedly at +0.5v orthos errors rather than the whole system crashing.

is this merely a case of severly incompatible ram/mobo combo?
(i've got super pi down to 17seconds with 1 stick)

So its o.k running just one stick at a time? if so then when you have two sticks in up your MCH voltage by +0.1v and set your timings manually.

yup latest F6 bios

i can stress each stick to approx 1000mhz no problem, as soon as two stick go in it's in trouble :/

i have, i may try running them next to each other instead of in same coloured slots, probably kill the dual channel but might get both to run nicely

alas it boots so quickley all i get to see is the sata screen, i'll see if hitting break works for stopping it

Well tbh honest, if they're in different coloured slots then it won't be running in dual-channel.

right
took the whole comp apart, took the ehatsink stuff off the mobo, cleaned all the hard as nails gunk of the nb cooler put it all back on and it seems to be running ok now, even in dual channel mode, bloody computers.
