First of all, apologies if this is in the wrong section - mods feel free to move if applicable! (was caught between it being a network/hard drive issue!)

Anyway, I got myself a Buffalo Linkstation Live NAS yesterday and so far its working like a dream!

The only issue I'm having is I cant seem to set up the "webaccess" part to be able to access it through "buffalonas.com" and wondered if anyone has had a similar problem!

I went into the settings and tried the "easy setup" route but I get an error message back saying that my router doesnt support upnp/port forwarding - this is rubbish as I've checked my router (Sky broadband) and its got the upnp option and its set to on!

I've tried going through the advanced setup but so far no had any luck as the settings I'm inputting are mostly guesswork!

Has anyone had a similar issue??

Thanks...........

I've port forwarded the port "9000" in the routers settings (TCP and UDP) but it isnt very clear in the Buffalo instructions whether I make up my own buffalonas.com name and key or if these are assigned for me!?!?

Sorry but I'm not particularly good with ports etc!

I have managed (I think) to assign a static IP address and reserve that IP address in my router!

The biggest annoyance is that the Linkstation settings is telling me that my router doesnt support upnp when I know it does!

I'll post a few photos of my errors after lunch to see if that helps anyone to figure it out with me!

The Buffalo NAS name and "key" are two items used to authenticate your NAS box onto the Buffalo servers. If you are getting an error regarding the name it means it is already taken. Remember to keep a record of these details.

Unfortunately I can't help with your main point as after enabling UPNP on my router it just worked.

Well I managed to get it set up by "advertising" that my router has upnp and trying the easy setup option and it has worked OK! :D

The only issue now is that I cant seem to restrict access through using the users/groups options! Unless I disable it, anyone who just guesses my buffalonas.com name can see all my files (which is weird as you dont even seem to need the "key" as it is more of a unique ID rather than password!?!?!)

Can anyone guide me through how I set up user (and therefore login only!) access to my share files online?

Thanks......
