bought a pc from oc, built it y'day now im already having problems, its a 4690k, r9 290, 8 gb ram, ssd... and for some reason it won't play games at a diffrent fps im getting like 20-25 in arma 3, i was getting 30-50 with my 2 yr old amd build, i think its down to launch parameters but i don't know where to start changing them

edit: also on speedfan its saying temp 2 is 127C, but it doesnt say what temp 2 is :( FML

That temp is quite a common thing iirc. I have the same and it's an error. Sounds like you're using onboard graphics rather than the GPU with those rates.

Is your HDMI cable plugged into the GPU or motherboard? If it's in the motherboard it's not using the GPU which might explain the low frame rates.

What amd drivers are you using?

Use afterburner to monitor gpu usage during game to see what being used.

Onboard gpu can be disabled in bios but shouldnt need to be as having the gpu installed should switch it off.

Silly question but the monitor is plugged into the gpu and not the motherboard isnt it?

Where have you connected the monitor output? Should be in the R9 290 graphics card.

All drivers installed.

omg how embarrassing, i was reading these comments thinking i'm surely not that dumb, and then i looked down in disappointment, i had it plugged in the motherboard, but now i have a bigger issue my resolution does not fit my 1920x1080 monitor, it has a 50m boarder all the way around, i cant seem to do anything about it
