Problems streaming HD videos..

Evening people, I've upgraded my graphics card today with the nvidia geforce gt 520 but I'm having problems streaming 1080p videos from youtube. I don't play games or anything so I thought this card was a good, cheap choice! My computer is pretty old..Pentium 4 @ 3.06GHz, 3GB RAM running Windows XP Pro SP3.

The only way I can get youtube videos to play properly is to make the vid full screen before turning it up to 1080p, overwise it's choppy and stutterng like mad. When they are playing fine at 1080p however, I am seeing flickers of horizontal lines on the screen (almost as if the picture has been cut accross the middle and one half has moved accross a few pixels, if that makes sense?) but this only happens for a split second, that's why it's like flashes of horizontal lines. As far as I can tell this only happens on youtube, HD videos on vimeo seem to play with no problems (other than the computer being slow to react to mouse clicks etc. when the video is playing!)

I appreciate that my system is old, and that's probably why my computer struggles to play at 1080p but is there anything I can do about the lines? I've updated my graphics card driver from the nvidia site and I've got the latest flash player.

I appreciate any help you could give, btu please go easy as it's my first post :)

Flash uses the cpu a lot more than the gpu (presently)

A P4 bordering on barely aceptable these days for even the simplest of tasks.

I recently upgraded my P4 3.2Ghz to a C2D and there is a world of difference.

Will the vieos breaking up be down to the processor then? They stream fne (when I get them going) apart from the lines, and HD videos seem to work on vimeo so surely the CPU can handle it (just about)

The computer seems fast enough for everything that I use it for. I'd like to get a motherboard package but I haven't really got the money at the minute!
