Hi,

For some reason I can't seem to buy any Live Points, either through the 360 or on the Xbox website. Both keep telling me that they can't authorize payment. I've checked with my bank and the card's valid (and not locked) and I've even successfully used it this morning to buy something else online. There's plenty of credit on the card (it's virtually clear) as well and all the details about the card on the MS Billing website are correct, such as expiry date, number, billing address etc.

Has anybody else had problems buying MS Points recently? I really want to get the new COD4 maps bought and downloaded!

Not heard of problems here but not tried to buy any through MS directly either....

My 2100 point card redeemed ok though last night.

Its because theres so many people trying to buy the new call of duty 4 maps. Its just like before christmas when they under estimated the amount of new users. TBH its not jolly good for a 'premium' service. There isnt even any dedicated servers, which would speed up games. There should also be filters for different countries or continents ateast.

Rant aside every little helps sells 2100 points card for 12.97 800 points= £4.80 instead of £6.80. I know it means waiting but you could buy 2 for 5 pounds more than one 2100 points pack.

Dont use your credit card as they will ban you when they try to take a payment when the card expires. Think that is with the live subscription.

Do you have a Mastercard or a Visa?

I only ask because my card expired in November 07 and since then the new Mastercard number has been literally hit or miss with a lot of websites.

I develop web-apps and even the 'old' algorithms for detecting a genuine card aren't working, only the new ones.

So it could be that to be honest.

It must have been something to do with that credit card. I've just managed to change payment details to a different card, it updated correctly and added the new points first time. Weird.

Strangely enough I did this today. MS accepted my old card, after I updated the end date, but resolutely refused to take my second credit card at all. Which is annoying as I plan to cancel the original card in a week or so.

The other thing that still miffs me is that MS were charging my old card, even though it expired months ago. But that's an old rant.

Ever so slightly off topic. But I used some of the points to purchase one of the DLC packs for Forza 2. But there was no way on earth that it downloaded 92MB in less than a minute, but apparently it did and I've been driving the new cars. So do these packs/addons download quietly in the background after release, and await your possible MS points to unlock them? Or is something a bit odd going on here?

did you download the free car at all?

iirc the free car also contains the details of all the other cars so that should you encounter them online you don't get booted :)

Ah, this may explain why I'd started seeing some of the other cars online before I decided to buy this pack.

Console noob alert! :o

Thanks for the reply. :)
