Hi guys,
I have a sky router I dont use and decided I would try and use it as a switch.

A little bit about my setup: -
Main PC is connected to a 4 port Netgear switch where all the 4 ports are in use. As I have placed a 2nd computer in the same room I have attached the Sky router to the Netgear switch using an ethernet cable.

I have then connected the new computer to the Sky router and it works ok most of the time but every now and then the Sky setup page 192.168.0.1 keeps popping up stating I am not connected to the internet.

My main PC then thinks this is a second network and throws a wobbler.

Basically my question is, Am I able to use the Sky router as a switch without having the issues of it thinking it should be connected to an ADSL line?

thanks :)

cheers guys, I hadnt disabled DHCP btw

I seem to be getting wireless issues now. The wife turned her laptop on and it tried connecting to the wifi connection on the Sagem router.

I had to turn it off in the end to get it to connect to the router I use to connect to the internet.

The Sky router doesnt have a physical button to turn wifi off.

I have fixed the wireless connection by simply turning off the Wireless Access Point.

However I seem to be having great difficulty connecting to the Sky router on 192.168.0.1 when that is the only router switched on, but for some strange reason I can connect to the Sky router when I have my main Netgear router turned on.

I think the problems I am having is something to do with the fact that both routers are using 192.168.0.1.

Any more advice would be great.

I might just stop being tight and buy a switch ;-)
