Problems viewing video files

Hi I'm looking for some help. I'm running Windows XP SP2. I am unable to view video files on my machine. I've tried different files (and file types) and different players (Real Player, Media Player, Nero ShowTime), all I get is a black screen as the file plays and the audio from the video. I've uninstalled and reinstalled Real Player, I've uninstalled all my codecs and installed the K-Lite codec pack, still get the same problem.

Any ideas from anyone ?

Is your hardware acceleration at full?

Thanks for the advice, it prompted me to look at the Catalyst Control Center Options. I had some sort of custom video setting. I changed to one of the defaults (home) and hey presto !
