Problems with a new build, could use some advice

I built my new system today but I have hit a brick wall of a problem and can't seem to get the system booting no matter what. The red 5VSB light is on when there is power running to the board and the green VCC light comes on when I hit the power on button. The system starts to power up and all the fans spin up, the drives too but no POST or sounds it just stays powered up with no picture. I have waiting 5 mins but nothing happens.

I cleared the CMOS, tried the memory with just 1 stick and even without memory just to try get a beep but nothing. I am at a total loss as it doesn't even beep with no video card, the power all seems fine and I have the 24pin and 8 pin power hooked up. My build is as follows...

Abit IP35-E
Intel Q6600
4 x 1GB Geil 800mhz DDR2
Thermalright Ultra 120
OCZ 520watt PowerStream
BFG 320MB 8800GTS
500GB Samsung Spinpoint HDD

If anyone can help I would be really grateful, have spent the last 6 hours trying everything I can think of without any luck. I am completely stumped with this and the only spares I have to test are another video card, I might be able to loan some 667mhz DDR2 tomorrow but I have a nasty feeling it isn't a memory problem.

Anyway, thanks in advance to anyone who replies, I am getting pretty desperate now and could really use some helpful advice.

Thanks.

try with 1 stick of ram and build it out side the case.

have you plugged the 6 pin power cord into your gfx card

6 pin is plugged in the gfx card, if I leave it unplugged the card lets out a mighty scream. I have tried with 1 stick of ram and alternated it between slots but again no luck. Will build it outside of the case this afternoon and hopefully that will help.

Thanks for help :)

This might be a silly question, but have you tried one of the OTHER sticks of RAM? If you only tried one, it could be the faulty one!?!

Stripped the whole thing down and started from scratch, it all works fine now. I am inclined to think that the cooler had moved the cpu slightly when I was installing the screws and it caused a bad connection.

Anyway, happily running the Q6600 at 3ghz on air right now with zero voltage changes, fingers crossed it stays stable :)
