Hey Guys

I have a zyxel router through my IP that I want to keep as a Modem and then set my Netgear Router in the livingroom as an AP.

In the bedorom where my zyxel router is, I had a technician put up a network box in the wall that leads up and through the attic and then down to my office, where he placed another network box, where I from there have a network cable that go into my PC.

So from my zyxel router I have a cable that goes to the network box in the wall and
a networks cable that goes into the livingroom into my Netgear router.

My issue is, that the second I set my Zyxel router in bridge mode, it kills my connectivity in my office. I do however have connection to the router in the livingroom.

My connectivity in the office is lost, no matter if the network cable is in LAN port 1 or any other in the zyxel router.

I think I once read that when you put the zyxel router in bridge mode, that it closes the lan ports except for one, but I am unsure.

Is there somehow I can keep my zyxel as Routing instead of Bridge, and still be able to set my Netgear router as AP, somehow?

Kind Regards,

/D

What model is your Netgear? It’s likely it has an AP mode (sometime called client mode). You’re on the right lines, you want the Zyxel remaining as your router and the Netgear on the end of the cable acting as a Wireless Access Point and doing no routing.
