When playing playing movies from my HD I get a dogey green line accross the bottom and up the right hand side of the movie being played. Also, randomly the sound will go out of synch with the video.

I don't know if this is a codec problem, or if it is Windows Media Player?

It happens on all my films that are stored on the HD, so it isn't the file. I think my codec's are upto date, I also have DivX... I think.

Any one got a clue to why this happens?

its a wmp9 problem i think, i used to have this, but have switched to media player classic since

remove any codec packs you have installed
update to WMP10, install ffdshow from free-codecs.com
(possibly update graphics card drivers too)

yeah free-codecs.com is the dogs :)

ffdshow is updated quite often on there too.. there's a few different builds..

normal
mmx
sse
sse2

^use cpu-z to find out which things your processor supports, and use the lowest (ie sse2) possible on that list
