Problems with colorvision spyder calibrator driver

I have just bought a colorvision spyder (version 1) from someone in my photography society. The software installs fine, but when trying to run the software my computer (windows xp) doesn't recognise the calibration unit (spyder version 1) when it is plugged in.

I have previously used a borrowed syder2 to calibrate my monitor once, but now i have my own spyder i want to use that on a fairly regular basis.

I have uninstalled all the spyder 2 software and tried my best to manually install the driver for the spyder 1, but it's still failing and google is not coming to my aid.

I beleive what i need to do is uninstall the driver for the spyder2 device so that the spyder1 driver cna be installed properly. How can i do this?

any ideas?
anyone had similar problems?

thanks
Charlie

p.s. i hope this is the right section of the forums for this.

Of course i uninstalled in the control panel...i made everything form the original syder2 software go away but that doesn't remove the drivers for the device...

its the driver i am having problems with...

Ok so in Device Manager, is it listed?
* Open Device Manager control panel
* "Datacolor Spyder" will be listed under "Universal Serial Bus Controllers" with yellow triangle badge
* Right-click and select "Uninstall"
* "Confirm Device Uninstall" dialog will appear
* Mark the checkbox "Delete the driver software for this device"
* OK

thank you so much superflyguy.

unortunately when i click uninstall the option to "Delete the driver software for this device" does not appear.

its just says: confirm device removal and gives me the name and a warning. nothing more...

is there another way to access the driver software to uninstall it.
