I've been running Ubuntu for a few years now, and I've loved using the likes of Beryl and found it very useful.

Only recently I looked into this Compiz Fusion project people have been raving about. Got it installed, customised to the way I like it, and loved using it. Then some updates came out for it, and now I can't get emerald themes to work with it. I can get metacity themes alright until I load up the CompizConfig Settings Manager.

Has anyone else had similar problems or can shed some light on the situation?

The latest Compiz updates screwed up my settings. Had to put everything back the way it was - my backed up settings file didn't work, oddly.

I don't use Emerald so can't help you there. However it does look like they have added a couple new plugins and the config is a little more intuitive.

Still, annoying that they broke it to get the new stuff in.

Sorry to change subject on this chat, is there any guides or repo's for installing compiz fusion??

Because I use beryl and wanted to start using compiz fusion, or is compiz fusion still beryl??

Bit lost with all the changes, just know that beryl and compiz have come back together and know dont know which one i should be using lol

Beryl was a fork of the Compiz project. Both projects then re-merged and now the project is called Compiz-Fusion. Beryl development has now been discontinued, but it is still supported.

What distro do you use?

Im on feisty fawn - Ubuntu, dont worry i answered my own question and managed to find the compiz-fusion forum so im starting to get all my questions out of the way, hopefully compiling the package myself will all go ok :-S
