Hey everyone I have recently just made a new pc and having problems connecting online :(

Basically I'm connecting to a router that was already set up with my MacBook Pro via an Ethernet cable and it doesn't recognise the network, I've set up the network numerous times with my ISP username and password but everytime I go into internet explorer and click network diagnostics it comes up with "not a valid IP configuration" or something along those lines.....

Then when I tell IE to fix the problem everything starts working again :/ would love to not have this problem everytime I start up my pc,

HELP?!

Thanks for reading

Is your Internet connection ADSL or Cable? I have the same issue when starting up my PC as I turn the internet on at the same time, but because my PC boots faster than the modem/router does, I have to wait for it to get its IP etc before I can browse the internet.

My internet connection is ADSL, the thing is I can boot up my router when I turn on my laptop and I will get a connection over wifi straight away, even if I leave it for ages it doesn't recognise it it just says unidentified network....

When it says unidentified network, can you find out what IP has been handed to your PC. You can do via ipconfig in command prompt. I just want to see if you're getting stuck with a 169 address and PC isnt automatically renewing it.

when I'm connected to the network my I Pv4 Address is 192.68.1.3
Default Gateway is 192.68.1.1

Any help? I'm new to all this setting up pc rubbish, first time i've done a huild from scratch and been setting it up

sorry for the late reply i'm currently working on some important uni work ha
