Hi,

when ever i click on one of my bookmarks it sometimes takes about 10 seconds or more and then come up with "server not found" but if i click on the "try again" it will load now this dose not happen on every bookmark i have but its on most now and i am getting fed up with it.

would any of you wise men have any ideas as to why its doing this.

i have re-installed firefox but still the same.

ipconfig /flushdns will flush Windows' DNS cache, but the problem might not be your machine storing out of date DNS entries.

should i still try flushing the DNS cache then ?

i have setup a new profile and its still the same i click on a bookmark and nothing for about 10 to 15 seconds then a message "sever not found"

Ideally you need to try sites that you haven't tried already - if it is a DNS issue, once you've got a working result, Windows will hold onto it.

right i tried IE7 and typed in google and it didn't work then typed ocuk and that didn't work as well i then closed IE7 and typed in ocuk and again Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage

try opening a command prompt and typing nslookup. Then at the > type in the site you want to resolve e.g www.cisco.com. You should then get an answer from your dns server - try this s few times and see if you get the same values returned each time

just done these dose this mean anything ?

Assuming 192.168.0.1 is your router, it's either doing a crap job of playing DNS proxy, or your ISP's DNS servers are buggered. As I suggested, try switching over to using OpenDNS.
