I've just bought and assembled a Gigabyte ga-p35c-ds3r, Pentium E2200 and 2Gig of OCZ ram.
When i turned it on for the first time (and everytime since!) all i get is a black screen (no signal) so it won't post & get to the bios screen  There are no error beeps unless I purposely remove the ram etc. I've also tried a second gfx card just in case that is at fault but it's not. Both gfx cards work in my other machine.

The cpu fan does spin up as do the HD's so power is getting around the board. I have made sure the 20 + 4 pin (split 24 pin) plus the extra 4 pin for the cpu are plugged in. I've also checked the psu in my other machine and it's also working fine.

I was told by ****** staff that it could be my ram not being compatable with the board or it could be the cpu borked. Unfortunately I can't test the cpu as my other comp is socket 939 athlon.

Any thoughts on this? I've reset the cmos and nothing changes.
Thanks in advance :)

Clear the CMOS (or remove the battery for a couple of minutes) and try booting with just one stick of memory.

Which memory are you using.

I've taken the battery out a couple of times but only for a minute at max. The ram I'm using is OCZ 2GB Kit (2x1GB) DDR2 800MHz/PC2-6400 CL 4-4-4-15 PLATINUM XTC with LIFETIME WARRANTY.

Thanks for the quick reply.

I had the same problem as you (no post and no beeps), and in fact had two GA-P35C-DS3Rs replaced before I finally had a system running (yesterday :)). So based on that, I would say the motherboard is at fault.

The OCZ should be fine with that board. Have you tested both sticks on their own?

If so, then I'm guessing it's either a dead board or dead CPU. And it's far more likely to be the board.

Thanks Cob (& Inazuma), Yeah I did test each mem stick on their own.

I have a replacement coming tomorow and an RMA for the other one. I'm crossing my fingers for tomorrow:eek:

+1 for the board. My first gigabyte board had a similar issue. RMA'd it and the second one worked perfectly with the exact same hardware.

I had exactly the same problem, i had to up my mem voltage to +0.3v and a few other tweaks and everything was fine.

Have you tried the different memory dimm slots on the motherboard?

I have a faulty one as well and its turned out that DDR2 Dimm slot 3 is broken - worth a try :)

I've this no post problem too, I'll try upping the ram volts
got it from the MM with 2gig balistix5300 & q6600 was used by the previous owner no problems, but I have to reset it to get it to boot.

should I RMA it??

I bought another board yesterday & got an RMA for the other. This one seems to work as in I can now enter bios & install windows.

Well I could install windows IF i had a sata driver floppy  My laptop doesn't have a floppy and my desktop pc has a floppy but obviously doesn't have windows installed yet  I'll have to pop around to my mum & dads to create one on theirs tomorrow.

Btw according to the motherboard manual there are two types of sata driver. If I create the gsata floppy does my sata lead have to plug into the gsata socket? Or can I still use the yellow sata sockets? I don't need raid.

Thanks for all the help ;)
