Hey guys

I currently have a Maxtor 200gb IDE which has windows and all my programs on but I wanted to install a 2nd Hard drive for data, so I installed a Segate SATA 500gb

Its having some problems running, With ti installed windows takes AGES to load and i can hear the SATA disk working away, Once its finally in windows i can see the 2nd disk insalled but when i click to format it the mahcine just crashes, but i can hear the disk clicking (its very quite)

I have set the SATA controller to enabled in the BIOS, I just wondered if there was anything else i was suppose to do.

Thanks.

Thats a strange one! Only thing I can think is to try is swaping the sata's data cable with a different one, or try connecting it to different ports! Perhaps the HDD is dead. :(

Yes!

Just before reading your reply i was ready to pack it up and send it back. But I thought to change the cable... and it worked!

Can't belive i spent almost a whole day trying to figure out the problem and all it was was the sodding cable!!

Im pleased and annoyed at the same time :) :( !!

Thanks!

Destroy that faulty cable!! You'll probably get another drive in the future and forget the cable is duff and try to use it again ;)
