The last couple days my broadband has been playing up really bad. It just randomly disconnects for about 5-10 mins. Its done this like 20 times yesturday and it looks like its doing it again today but so far only 1 disconnect.
Im just not sure what it is, ive had this problem before but it only disconnects say 3 or 4 times a week so thats a huge difference, but its been like that since i can remember.
Anyway im at a loss at whats causing it heres what me and my family think it could be:

1) too many things connected to broadband along with the phone lines around the house.

2)the service provider orange

3) the router its about 2-3 years old its a Netgear DG834

Theres 2 ways a line usually disconnects - it loses sync due to too much noise on the line (will show as lots of errors in the router control panel) or because one of the end points disconnected.

cheers, so far today i aint having any problems so maybe it could be something to do with orange maybe there having problems or something.

Basically it comes down to the router from the internet (either because of sync loss or the PPP session dropping) or your machine(s) from the router (because the router/cable/wireless/adapter is crapping out). "It's disconnecting" could be any of those, and there isn't that much overlap in solutions.

Next time it disconnects see if you can access the router webpage. If you can then it's probably a sync loss, if not then it's probably your router. Once you know what it is then we can probably help a bit more.

There should also be lights that'll show if the modem's in sync (some kind of "DSL" light that'll flash/go off/change colour) and/or got a PPP session up ("Internet" light, for example).
