Its been running fine till about 2 weeks ago when all of a sudden the screen would go blank. I thought it might me a video card problem so tried another video card which i had at the time but the fault still happened. I tried another monitor and the fault i was getting did not occur.
From what i can gather on my U3011 the video signal is present but it maybe the back light which is causing the problem.
When the screen does go blank if i give it a nudge the light comes back on but then may go off or flash on and off randomly for a bit. This fault occurs for all the connections..dvi, hdmi, displayport etc.

anyone have any idea as to what it could be, repairs etc.
Its not under warranty.
thank you

Take it apart, check all connectors and all Caps on the PCB.

Could simply be a Cap that needs replacing or a Broken Solder point on a connector.

And why is it not in warranty if its a 3011?

Well, i bought it used. I have been on the dell website but it does not recognise the service tag on the monitor. I have taken it apart, albeit a little hesitantly, reseated any connectors i could see. Didnt really pay any notice to the caps or soldering points i must admit. will do that first.

even if bought used the warranty is still valid for 3 years maybe worth calling them with the serial nukmber or try registering the serial number on the website maybe tha original owner didnt register it

if its over 3 years old thos id say your out of luck but it could well be worth a call cause if u cant fix it yourself dell are the best ones to do it i guess

Hi, i have tried entering the service tag, which the dell site says you need, but it comes up as not recognised. The monitor is also a Rev A00, which im assuming is one of the first ones made?
When was this monitor first introduced?
