problems with new ipod touch-pls help

Hi,
I got a ipod touch today. When I was playing some songs- I noticed that it skips occasionally. Is the ipod faulty?

I'm using iTunes 10.1.1

I never notice any skipping on my iPhone, did you rip the songs from CD in iTunes or import an existing MP3 library?

It's probably the way the songs were ripped from the cd. Or were they downloaded?

Thanks for the replies. The song were downloaded about 2 week before I got the ipod.
