Problems with new PC...help?

Hi,

First of all sorry if I posted this in wrong section of the forums, as you can see I just joined. The joining process isn't one of the easiest ones where it took me about 5 times to finally enter correct letters/number by finding them in the image cache. But either way here are the components that I use:

Processor: Intel i7 2600K 3.4GHz
Graphics Card: Asus GTX 560 Ti
Motherboard: Asus P8Z68-V
Memory: G.Skill RipJawsX 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz
Hard Drive: Samung HD204UI (I think I am wrong about this one)
Disc Drive: Samsung SH-222AB
Power supply: Over 750W paid around £55 decent one, had on other PC lasted me over 3 years, not sure what brand now...
Windows 7 64

So here is the problem...I formated it all, installed few programms, so it's pretty much empty so far. At the moment my CPU temperatures are:

I don't think it should be that high for such usage, as all I do right now is sit on my desktop and do pretty much nothing, and if I do...if I launch game for example Bad Company 2, I see my Processor temps rise and rise it starts wtih 60C, goes up to 75C within a minute, and once I finally load into game and actually am playing, temeratures go up to 85C and 90C then suddenly my PC shuts down, I get no error whatsoever however I fear it's still a processor cooling problem?
My graphics card temps are around 45C when idling on desktop, and rises slightly when playing the game, so I am kind of leaning towards that this is a processor overheating problem? Or could it be something else? Thanks for the answers in advance.

The fan is working, I usually get 45-50C not sure where that 60C came from, but yet it kinda scares me as I didn't do anything major, just browsing internet and that's it for now...

Would buying a better cooler definetly help me out? I mean if this is a definetly a processor cooling problem, then I wouldn't worry to buy a better one, yet again I don't want to risk spending about 40-50 quid if it doesn't make much difference. So in this case I'd hope this is a CPU cooling problem, which would hopefully go away when I get a new processor cooler..

You don't appear to have overclocked the CPU but correct me if I'm wrong.

If the cooler is fitted correctly, and you have decent airflow in your case, then the CPU shouldn't overheat.

Not overclocked at all, about the 'the cooler is fiited correctly' I am not so sure unless a singe half a mm would make a difference, though I really made sure it's all properly inserted.

Just to let you know I ordered Scythe Mugen 2 Rev.B so hopefully that will fix the problem, and just an extra fan to make sure I have better air flow...

I am not sure what I will do if it still doesn't help, I am already broke buying all of those expensive parts, so any idea what could be the problem other than the ones listen above? Cheers
 
I see...

I already checked ram and tested it in bios...no problem there, motherboard, can't tell, GPU seems good because I don't get major temeratures on it, and like I said I can play games, but and everything looks amazing until my PC crashes/restarts once I played the game for around 20-30 seconds, so I don't think it's actually GPU problem.

Voltage, I am pretty sure it's more than enough for what I have...

I really need this cooler that will come tomorrow to make my problem dissapear else I am not sure what to do.
 
So I installed this new cooler that came today, and my temperatures are now great, 35C at idle and 50C on average while playing game. However the computer still shuts down after playing the game for over a minute...I really ran out of ideas what could be wrong, since the heat is not a problem anymore.
 
I don't think there is an option in my bios for it to shut down if it reached this temperature, I think it would when I reach 85C or so, but that's far from what I was getting.

To be honest I spent so much money on this PC I can't even afford buying 3 quid worth fan lol. But either way if this was a dodgy PSU, I really have to be SURE that this is where the problem is at, because if I buy another PSU and it still fails I am pretty much gonna have to move on consoles and leave this alone till like Christmas lol...but yea, what PSU would you recommend for my system? I don't want to spend a lot of money.
 
I did check the cables plenty of times, since I've been removing and again installing the components plenty of times, hence I had to install CPU cooler so everything had to be removed and re-connected. I am sure they are all 100% in perfectly, and like I said I doubt that would bring an issue only when playing a game.

I already did memtest, everything was OK without any errors.
CPU fine too.
Didn't run graphics test yet but if you recommend so I might as well just do it...
 
No errors or anything, however I just tested this PC with a different power supply and guess what, everything went fine, I could play for twenty minutes or more, then I just turned the game off since this shows it's definetly a power supply issue. The PSU I used is my neighbours, so I can't take it from him now, that's too bad lol.

It's probably not one of the best PSU's out there, but it worked real well, it feels real sturdy and a proper PSU not like I currenly use...

I've noticed they Atrix now sells different version of this PSU, which I doubt are better than I had previously...so I guess my options are:

1. Buy exactly same PSU from internet - I am guaranteed it will work.
2. Buy a similar Atrix 650W newer vesion which I doubt is as good as the old one.
3. Buy something you guys recommend, something cheap, reliant and known to be a good PSU, I am not willing to pay a lot for it though...
 
The first one you offered seems pretty decent I suppose, yet outside my budget limits, since delivery costs 6 quid or so, I will end up paying £65-70 for it :P I was looking for something decent for up to 50 incl delivery.
 
I went to PC World and took the last OCZ 700W StealthXStream 2 ATX...

It works fine for now, so hopefully it at least lasts couple of months lol...though I am sure it will cover a year at least for me :P
