Hi All,

It's not often I venture out of GD or Motors so this is scary :D

Having recently bought myself a rig, to my surpirse the people who shall be left anon haven't supplied me with a Wireless network solution, so the day the PC arrived and i went and got myself a Netgear WG111v3 USB Adapter thinking that it would be sufficiant.

I'm having problems with COD 4 Online though, every 45 seconds or so it's coming up saying Connection Interupted... and quite frankly it's getting me killed.

Am I to guess that a PCI based solution is going to be better? if so from OCuk Range (as I will go and collect it) will be the best for me to have (Don't want to spend a bomb either)

Thanks for any help :)

Are all the ports forwarded fine and ok? Sometimes if they are set to do so automatically using UPNP the router can have issues...

Is your regular internet connection ok, for example surfing and doing speed tests and your connection strength strong?

I don't have any problems surfing or downloading normally on my Laptop.. the connection is strong from the Dongle..

Hmmm, if it is just COD then try taking a look at the ports to make sure they are ok.

I have personally had a few issues with games where they would give me massively jumpy lag / disconnects because my router (my old one in particular... wired connection) didn't like UPnP.

WoW voice was a big frustration at the start for this (not vent, just regular in built wow voice service).

You don't need to do any port forwarding for games except for a few strategy titles.

Dark_Angel, WoW doesn't need any portforwarding or UPnP except for the P2P aspect of the updater.

Is it worth getting a PCI card and seeing if it will help? unfortunatley a Wired connection isn't possible as there isn't a phone line in my room :(

Connection Interupted is a pretty common problem with cod4
do you actually get disconnected from the server ?
happens to me a lot when waiting to spawn

EDIT : btw i would always use a wired connection for gaming

nope. It just happens every minute or two it lags for 2-3 seconds and continues normal.

I've just run a test on my Laptop too as I never had this problem playing COD 4 on it.

It's not happening at all on there so I can only guess that it's the dongle in the PC not being quick enough? as my rig is a lot more powerfull than this.

Edit: Could USB be an issue here? another reason I ask if it would be quicker overall by getting a PCI card?
