Is there an OS on the hard drive? Have you tried both the outputs from the graphics card? Reseat all the components, check all PSU connectors are connected.

HDD actually spins when i disconnect it from the board but the standby light remains.

When I pulled the lever down to trap the cpu it seemed to be a bit wonky. Could this be the problem?

All PSU connectors are connected, tried both graphics outputs. the HDD light stays on solid. All fans spin but no bios beep :(

Win XP is on the HDD atm.

There are pin marks in the cpu......is this bad :(

It was sitting square then soon as the lever went down it looked like it had shifted to the side.

you may have to push the plastic pins on the heat sink to their original position & make sure they are not turned in the unlock position

are they off centre or do they not click in? if they dont click in remove the Heatsink & make sure the pins are not pushed in the plastic around them

I've noticed one of the little plastic grips is missing now. I'm fed up of messing around with it so i'm gonna try and get a new heatsink/fan. Could somebody point me in the direction of one for <£20

Will any socket 775 heatsink do?

Thanks

:pI actually ruined the legs on my Artic 7 so its sitting here doing absolutely nothing.

I had a friend build his recently and he had nothing but trouble... until he fitted the 4 Pin 12v connector to the motherboard. Just a thought as he had built loads of computers so not a noob on the surface!!

I've tried eliminating all silly little things like that. I've given up for the time being. It has been severly winding me up. All I want to do is play on the thing :D
