I've been having issues with my PC the last few days.
It started with the Graphics card, and it's a bit hard to explain but basically Windows XP would load fine. Once loaded, if the computer was to draw something new, for example if I was on a webside and scrolled down, or I right clicked for the 'right-click menu' to popup the screen would first go black (just as if the signal had been lost) before coming back with the new picture on the screen drawn.
I had solved this issues for a while by updating my drivers but last night it would not go away.

I reset my system to stock (the GFX had never been o/c anyway) and tried loading windows once more. I then got a BSDO - PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA.
I rebooted once more and it seemed to load fine. I then uninstalled and installed the latest drivers. During the installation I got another BSOD saying "an attempt was made to write to read-only memory" and it mentioned one of the Nvidia installation files (nvmcp.sys).

I tried once again after a reboot but with the same thing happening (but a different file).

When I rebooted this time I noticed some of the characters on the GFX BIOS and PC BIOS screen were corrupt, some letters were swapped with others (For example Safe Mode said Cafe Mode).

My guesss is that the GFX memory has gone, but I'm absolutely skint can't afford a new card, especially when it may not even be that.

Is there any way to check the GFX RAM? There doesnt seem to be any corruption in windows, which is strange.

[Edit] Atm the moment I'm running the PC without and GFX drivers installed, there is still corruption in the Bios/GFX Bios, and it is always the same characters, replaced by the same different characters!

Have you run 'memtest' just to rule out the fact that it might be your system memory?

PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA is normally caused by a faulty memory stick.

Not 100% sure if faulty Graphics card memory would cause a BSOD to appear, never experienced GFX memory going wrong.

I'll try memtest tonight for around 3 hours. One other thing I've noticied is that the Memory Testing at the Bios stage is now very slow.

Fortunately I've got a XP2400+/A7V8X/768MB PC2700 and Ti4200 so there's enough to test every component. Just hoping someone had experience with this sort of issue.

Here's to hoping it my ram!

Seems it is the GFX card.
Replaced the GFX and Ram last night, runs fine. Put the old ram back in and it's still running fine.
My 6800GT that I bought in Oct 2004 for £350 from OcUK is now officially dead :(, unless of course its the GFX Bios thats dead ;).

Time to decide whether or not I simply get a new AGP card (which is gonna be around £75 for something worse than my 6800GT) or spend £350 on a new system as everything would need upgrading for a PCI-E setup.
