Hey peeps. I've recently added another 4gb to my system to make 8gb. Problem is now my games crash after 10mins and my fps is low.

Rest of my system;
i5 760 @ 4GHZ 200*20
Asus P7P55D-E
8GB XMS3 - 4x2GB @ 1600mhz
GTX 460

I've upped my vcore to 1.35v and ICM to 1.325v.

I'm currently running memtest with no errors right now.

Any other ideas?

Thanks.

Ok, after a lot of ****ing about. Things seem to be stable right now. I loaded the XMP profile which set the following;

160x18 = 2880Mhz
DDR3 @ 1600 9 9 9 24

Now, if I was to get my multiplier up to 20/21 will that be fine in terms of gaming/general use, also should I set the QPI to anything?

Is there a difference between 160 and 200, I also don't get why anything higher than 160 (no matter what voltage the ICM is on) my memory becomes unstable??

I'm not that much up-to-date with the i3/5/7's and OC'ing so I generally am confused a little! :(

Thanks

Well, I've not got it stable at;

160x21 = 3.3Ghz
1600 - 9 9 9 24

As stated, I won't see much difference in terms of my lower CPU clock?

Thanks.

Hmm, thanks for the reply.

I've currently done a switch around, and now at 200x19 = 3.8Ghz.

I've been using LinX to run 20 times using 2GB as that would pick up a fault straight away - if it passes that I then try Prime95 blend as that seems to be the best to test stability?

Or should I use the ALL feature in LinX?

Cheers.

Ok, it's starting to **** me off now.

6 hours of Memtest86 detects no errors, LinX completed all 20 runs at full memory without faults which took more than 2 hours, ran Prime95 without faults for 1 hour...

Yet as soon as I get in game, I get either a crash or blue screen. Seriously, why the **** is it so hard?

My E6600 ran 4 sticks without any problems...

GAH!

Yes, I've disabled those.

I've tried all sorts, it just seems that unless my motherboard is running at stock my games just crash?

Any sort of OC results in problems, even when running ram below 1333 speeds... with timings of 9 9 9 24.

Even set Vcore 1.4v and ICM to 1.375v with no luck.

Right, after moving the sticks around. It seems there may be a problem with my DIMM slots?

4GB only works in the Blue Channel slots, if I put them in the black slots I get the memory error light and my PC doesn't boot.

Just read up about the DIMM slots, it's some motherboard thing as to where memory won't be detected unless the A1 and B1 are occupied.

Haha, indeed.

I'm convinced it's a mobo OC/voltage problem. I've just set the D.O.C.P on my mobo so now running 18x160 and 1600 ram - Vcore and ICM at auto.

Games load up and playable, usually they would just crash/lock up.

*Edit* - as stated, everything runs fine at stock speeds.

GAH!
