Looking for some help with a monitor issue on my gf's computer. Currently running a small machine for general home use but recently been having problems with the signal to the monitor from the d-plug. Things were fine until recently when there doesn't seem to be a proper signal coming from the mother board d-plug out which is connected to the monitor. We're using old sockets as the motherboard is an Intel P5G41T-MLX connecting to a Fujitsu monitor of a similair period.
Getting a signal is unstable and finding we're having to disconnect the sockets and turning the power supply on and off and at the wall at intervals of 5 to 10 minutes for any screens to load. The PC boots up fine but I've got a feeling there's a loose connection on the motherboard somewhere. I've tested the monitor on my own machine and it works fine everytime. Also updated the drivers recently
Failing that, do you think it's worthwhile installing a low end graphics card into this machine to alleviate the motherboard issue so that I'm running the monitor from different video sockets? Also would probably help us if we wanted to upgrade to a more recent monitor with either HDMI/DVI ports.
Thanks
