Problems with R9 Nano

Yeah very odd that, i just can't see the PSU being the problem, as it powers a 280X fine, and they use more power, 650w is easily enough for a Nano, but getting 2x in a row doing the exact same thing, is well odd too.

Na, I'm by no means convinced its the PSU either but I just wanted to make sure before I sent it back again! It's all very odd. Always considered a graphics card a pretty stress free upgrade, but this is turning into a real ball ache :p

Edit: Thought it ran ok in Windows but now this has started happening. Disabling and re-enabling the graphics card in device manager fixes it.

I had the same issue although only happened once thus far. Had the card since Sunday and been on lates this week so not spent more than 2 hours gaming. With the Coil Whine its a disapointment, I usually have excellent PC Components Karma.

I've waited approx 15 months to buy a new GPU and this felt like the right purchase

Gonna try some older drivers, if it helps I'll post any solutions I find.

Thanks :) Although I can't game for more than about 30 seconds - 2 hours sounds like heaven :D

We're investigating an issue that can cause this garbled screen effect while idle. It's a high priority issue, when i have a further update i'll let you know.

Unofficial hat, not recommend by AMD:

The clock blocker tool should resolve the issue until it's addressed at driver level. The downside of this is your idle temps will increase 5c-10c as the GPU will be running at 3D clocks.

Official hat:

If it happens when browsing, try disabling hardware acceleration in the browser. There are reports it happens more in Firefox or IE than in Chrome. Likewise it happens less often in Catalyst 15.11.1 Beta than in Crimson.

I've been unable to reproduce this issue on my system.

The garbled screen thing happens most when using remote desktop, it’s a real pain! It also happens in Firefox (Hardware acceleration = off) but not as much. I have to logout and back in to correct it.
Anyway, looks like it was the PSU then. Hopefully it should be ok now.

Thanks Fred.

If my PSU is the primary factor in the coil whine and garbled screen I'm not impressed. Its a Corsair AX 760W and I dropped £140 quid on the thing.

This issues been about for months, I get it randomly, sometimes I can get two or three times in a day and sometimes I don't see it for a week, I'm pretty sure it's always when I'm online using google etc. It's never happened in game.
