Problems with Radeon X800 XL

Hi there,

I bought this card about 1.5 years ago but never installed it as I was saving up for a new PC. Anyway, just put the card into my motherboard and everythings working fine until I installed the drivers for it, as soon as you enter windows the screen pixelates and changes colour then goes black and the card reboots. I've tried the latest drivers. Any ideas?

have you tried the drivers that came with the card ??? does it require anyextra power connectoirs to the crd itself if so are they plugged in ?

Every cable is plugged in correctly, I've tried the drivers which came on the CD, plus old drivers off the net. I'm using a 700W PSU so i don't reckon there's a shortage of power.

what mobo do you have ?

If you had a prior card installed, especially from Nvidia, did you use drivercleaner to fully remove the older drivers?

Perhaps also try the Omega ATI drivers to see if they are any different.

Its a brand new mobo and harddrive so there's no existing drivers. My mobo is a asus m2n32 sli deluxe.

Buying hardware and not testing it straight away isn't exactly a good idea, especially as you'll have lost a big chunk of the warrenty. Do you have a friend that has a machine you can try the card in?

Yeh, that was my next plan - checking it out on my mates PC. If it doesnt work on his what can I do? I've gone and bloody lost my receipt as well.

If it doesnt work, then without the reciept, its time for a new card i would think

I think your right, just ordered a x1950 pro. Lesson learnt - check as soon as you buy. Thanks anyway.

The X1950pro is a very well priced card & at least double the performance of the X800XL in anycase. GL with this card though.
