Problems I am having at the moment with some hardware here. Getting to the stage where it is becoming difficult to work out what is going on/wrong.

1) received abit 32xmax wifi mobo
2) instaled 2 kits of x 2gb ocz 6400 ram
3) two ocz kits seemingly doa
4) rma'd ram for cell shock
5) 4gb cell shock installed, working fine for a week, 2.2v 4-4-4-12
6) picked up an evga 680i mobo
7) installed cell shock into evga, working for for 3 months, 2.2v 4-4-4-12
8) powered down one day, powered up, C1 memory error
9) C1 memory error on each stick in turn in dim slot 0
10) installed 4gb cellshock memory in the old abit 32xmax wifi, 2.2 4-4-4-12
11) memory seemed ok, returned evga mobo to ocuk
12) no fault with evga mobo, returned to me from ocuk
13) 4 weeks later, still running on the abit, powered down, reboot, C1 error
14) removed a set, leaving 2 gig, still at 2.2v 4-4-4-12
15) worked ok for another 4 weeks, powered down, reboot, c1 error
16) can only now get 1 of 4 sticks to boot in dimslot 0
17) its counterpart stick will work in slot1 giving 2gig ram, but it will not boot if put in slot0
18) same behaviour in the evga mobo

Any ideas what might be up here guys? I am assuming that the ram is now borked. It seems that the cuplrit is the abit mobo. Initially killing the ocz kits, then possibly damaging the cellshock when I initially ran them for a week on the abit.

All boards are running the newest bios versions, and have had their bios settings cleared.

Ram installation method is a single stick of ram installed in dim0. Power up, into bios, set mem volts and timings. Shut down, install other stick(s).

Any ideas?

Cheers.

You need to check if your memory is damaged.

Run memtest and see if it finds any errors.

Download is available from here:

Yeah I agree with you that would be the best thing to try. However it is sort of impossible because out of 4 sticks, it will only boot with one of them. It just gives a C1 error if I try to use any of the others on their own or otherwise. I have managed to get the matching stick of the one that works (a pair in the two blue slots) to boot, but it is basically random if I get a C1 in that configuration.

Also, all this was working fine for months and months and I always do a thorough memtest run overnight when I build a new box. Infact if I change ram, I dont let it boot the os until memtest has been run.

That's a pain.

If the sticks are doing that in both boards then the chances are that the Cellshocks are damaged. I think I remember something about some of the EVGA 680i boards overvolting sticks and frying them.

Does the good stick boot in all 4 dimms? Can you try them in a friends computer? or maybe up the mch volts? just to be sure its not the mobo.
